- Donald Trump lashed out at the U.S. Supreme Court, claiming its rulings on birthright citizenship and his tariffs have cost the country “trillions and trillions of dollars.”
- The court rejected Trump’s bid to end birthright citizenship, with two of his own appointees — Amy Coney Barrett and Brett Kavanaugh — joining the majority in upholding the 14th Amendment.
- The Supreme Court also struck down Trump’s tariffs as unlawfully imposed, triggering more than $81 billion in refunds and prompting economists to argue the policy ultimately backfired.
- Trump has repeatedly blasted justices who ruled against his tariff policy, branding them “unpatriotic,” “disloyal” and “a disgrace to our nation.”
- Even as he attacks the court, Trump is asking the justices to erase the $83.3 million defamation judgment awarded to E. Jean Carroll after they previously declined to hear his appeal over a separate $5 million verdict
