Story by Alice Scarsi

Another strong earthquake struck off the coast of Japan on Wednesday, just days after a different tremor injured more than 30 people. An earthquake hit off the coast of Sanriku, east of the country, at a depth of 10km. Initial local reports said the tremor had a magnitude of 6.1, while the US Geological Survey (USGS) recorded the tremor’s magnitude at 5.6.

No immediate tsunami threat was recorded. This comes after a 5.9-magnitude earthquake struck Japan early on Sunday, causing strong shaking and injuring dozens of people.
